I got the opportunity to represent my university internationally in Singapore for a Startup AdVenture Program. During the four-weeks program, I not only gained hands on experience in my field of expertise but also built on multiple skills which I feel are have gradually become lifelong lessons.

Adapting to the new environment and blending in with the startup ecosystem of Singapore was tough at first but equally rewarding. It was an experience that made me challenge myself and discover a part of me that was somewhere hidden. In addition to the incredible opportunity to enhance my technical and marketing skills while immersing in an innovative and a dynamic environment, I learnt some valuable lessons:
Stay Positive and Believe in Yourself: Maintaining a positive mindset and believing in your abilities is essential to overcome any challenge and achieve success. The day you realize your self-worth, no power can stop you from opening the door of opportunities.
Embrace Challenges with Resilience: Challenges are always there, but they are accompanied with opportunities for growth. Instead of letting them bring you down, use your strength to turn obstacles into stepping stones. Every challenge you overcome makes you stronger and more adaptable.
Communicate and Speak for Yourself: Effective communication is key to personal and professional growth. It might be difficult at first and requires a lot of efforts, but speaking up for yourself improves transparency and fosters unity. The result is well worth of the effort you put in.
Value Every Experience: No learning is ever wasted. Every piece of knowledge and experience, whether it is related to your current field of study/work or not, adds value to your journey. Acknowledge the diversity of the experience you have and consider it as a point-of-difference (What makes you stand out?/What's unique about you?)
Adaptability is Key: In this fast-paced environment, the ability to adapt quickly not just to changes but also to challenges is crucial. Being open to change and ready to overcome every challenge can make all the difference. Stay flexible and be prepared to learn at every step.
Participating in the program was an incredible opportunity to put these lessons into practice. The day I started my Master's, I made it a point to stick to the saying that whatever happens is for the good. There have been times when I have felt low, and have been challenged but I have backed myself up, knowing that this phase will lead to a bright light. It was this positive mindset that helped me go past the challenges I faced in Singapore and deliver the best, considering it as a step in preparing for the corporate world.
